my second try

here is my second attempt at a portrait using natural light from a window. Again no one wanted to be a model but I was able to convince my wife to assist with my crazy dog. I liked these shots as it shows contrast as well as the craziness that my dog contains. I hope these paired with my first attempt equal something that isn't total crap.

thanks for the fun and interesting class, as this is my final assignment here at Albertus.

  1. Adorable... both your dog and your wife! I think what you discovered is that working with living creatures is so much harder than architectural elements and nature... they are moving, squirming, opinionated creatures... A good analogy is the skill it takes to hit a baseball from a T stand vs a hardball coming at you at 90 mph... Learning about minimum shutter speed and how to choose and adjust it to get a sharp image, how to control depth of field to have exactly what you intended in focus, how to control exposure to keep highlights and shadows in range, how to focus quickly and accurately... all of these skills taken together are just like hitting that fast ball.... The way to get good at anything is ...practice... :) Glad that you could finish your Albertus classes on this note!
